The “Lange Voorhout” is undoubtedly the most beautiful avenue in the Netherlands. As a foothill of the “Haagse Bos” it is a place where city and green meet.
The rows of lime trees are surrounded by magnificent mansions, each with its own architectural beauty.
This beauty, which can be admired by residents and visitors during the day, was completely gone in the evening. Strong contrasts led to a fragmented evening atmosphere and low quality of stay.
On behalf of the city of The Hague, Studio DL developed a lighting concept that combined all buildings, objects and trees into a subtle composition that significantly enhanced the evening experience of the avenue.
Various light sources were integrated into the existing lanterns so that no new elements had to be added to the public space.
