The square in front of the soccer stadium of FC Twente Enschede, directs the 25,000 visitors to the entrance. The goal was to animate the square from the sides while still framing the urban space. The lighting concept provides for two appearances of the square. For soccer games, there is the event mode with high illuminance and dynamic colorfulness in the upper part of the light columns. For this, a lighting scene can be switched on, which lights up the upper parts of the poles one after the other, replicating “the wave” from fans in the stadium. The second possibility is the everyday mode with varying colors depending on season, dimmed lighting and dynamic tree lighting depending on the wind. The angle of distribution and light colors are effectively combined in this installation, so that in winter the snow-covered branches of the trees are given an elegant, graceful appearance by cool light, while in summer soft, warmer lighting highlights the leaf structure.
