Catholic Church “Zu den heiligen Engeln”, Hannover
A place of devotion and silence, of congregation, joy and community, laughter and exchange. The catholic church “Zu den Heiligen Engel” in Hannover is all of this. People meet here for communion, for contemplation, but also to celebrate together and to fill their parish with life.
The church is the center of the community, and it is emblematic of the renewal that the building itself has undergone. With the utmost care, the interior of the church was restored to the restrained design once drawn by the architect Josef Bieling (1919 – 1981) using the existing materials.
The eight main luminaires, which feature three cylinders, are able to create a variety of light moods with the colors white, red, green, blue, and violet. This allows for the perfect atmosphere for high mass, services and celebrations.
For the church of the Catholic parish “Zu den heiligen Engeln”, Studio DL developed a lighting concept that successfully blends the instances of daylight and the interior of the building with its new luminaires for a harmonious composition. The use of modern LED technology formed a balanced interaction between brightening and accentuating the wooden ceiling. Up/ down pendant luminaires provide the visitor with a homogeneous and glare-free light, which allows the room to be bathed in any color light.
