Amsterdam | Hermitage
Amsterdam | Hermitage
The aim of the lighting concept for the Hermitage is to correspond to the timeless design of the facade and appear equally classic and elegant. For this reason, a discreet and wide surface area lighting of the facade elements was chosen, which emphasizes the building, with its few but targeted accents, in the urban fabric and underlines its impression.
Another goal of the concept was to create a special light space on the street between the Hermitage and the Amstel. The idea was to create a dialogue between the building and the urban space in front of it, which would be inviting and create a unique atmosphere in the city.
In the technical implementation of the concept, the existing street lighting was used and modified to be the only points of light illuminating the entire façade facing the Amstel. For this purpose, an LED module was developed, which is integrated into the historic lantern and illuminates and accentuates the facade towards the top.
